@Kayako and @KayakoOps on Twitter

Kayako first joined Twitter in March 2009. Back then, I said:

Necessity is the supposed mother of invention. I wonder who sat down and said: “I need a way to broadcast 140 byte messages to the Internet.” (It was probably the same person who decided that sending 160 character messages was a best use of a mobile phone, which could otherwise be used to talk to people thousands of miles away!)

Whether or not Twitter has a ‘point’ for us as individuals, I think that Twitter will be a really useful tool for Kayako and you

Since then, we have used Twitter to engage our customers in discussions about their helpdesks and CRM, hold a competition (which brought many of our customers to Twitter for the first time), syndicate announcements coming from our blog and forum and gather lots of feedback about our products.

Tweeting with our customers (both current and potential) is great fun. However, over the last few months, we have found that people have different expectations and different ways of using Twitter – not everyone wants to read about CRM articles or our customer feedback (we can’t help but share some!). Some people just want to receive notices and news from their vendors.

To make sure that no one misses out keeping on the Kayako pulse, we’ve created another Twitter account – @KayakoOps.

  • @Kayako is our main Twitter account. We’ll post company news, announcements, sneak product previews and will share information and articles we think our customers will find interesting. We’ll answer your questions and respond to your feedback.
  • @KayakoOps is our secondary Twitter account. We will only post company news, announcements and service updates to this feed. This account will be strictly one-way.

If we’re not already following you, make yourself known to us by Tweeting @Kayako.

Kayako donates $1000.00 to breast cancer charity on behalf of Twitter competition winner Nerida Gill

Our recent support desk giveaway (in which we gave away Kayako software licenses and a number of gadgets via Twitter) ended with a grand finale: the final prize being a shiny new Macbook Air and a $1000.00 donation to the winner’s nominated charity.

The winner, Nerida Gill, chose to donate the money to Bosom Buddies of Australia – a breast cancer support charity providing support to women living with breast cancer, and their families. We could not have been more pleased that Nerida of Admin Bandit (a vendor of volunteer treasurer software) scooped the ultimate prize.

Nerida Gill said:

“A number of friends and family have suffered from breast cancer, so this cause is close to my heart, Bosom Buddies provides vital aftercare for women who have undergone painful treatment for a disease that is frightening and often makes them question who they are as women. Everyone at Bosom Buddies gives their time and energy simply because they care, This kind of selfless giving is the backbone of our communities.”

Marilyn Brookes, chair of the Bosom Buddie breast awareness education subcommittee, was delighted to receive the donation:

“Nerida’s donation is like a rainbow delivering a pot of gold. We raise all our own funds, which is time-consuming and hard work.”

As a business, we are acutely aware of our social responsibility. We’re ecstatic that our Twitter giveaway was able to spread some joy, and provide help to those who really need it.

Thank you once again to everyone who participated in the event. We look forward to doing something similar in the near future.

This post is probably an apt place to remind everyone that Kayako software is now available to charitable organizations and open-source projects completely free of charge. Visit free help desk software for more information.

The good folks at Twitter have allowed us to change our handle to @kayako

We have retired our old handle, @kayakoteam. Twitter have informed us that everyone’s ‘follow’ will be updated automatically, but do make sure that you are following the correct one.

Thank you, and we hope to see you on Twitter!

@nolacooper's Tweet

@nolacooper from Classic Creations Design recently Tweeted this message. We’re ecstatic to hear that Nola is having such a great time with Kayako software!

Each Kayako helpdesk software solution comes with a Teamwork module – providing task list, contacts and appointments management, making the suite ideal for organizing your internal projects and team members.

Who else is using Kayako software to manage their projects, and how well is it working for you? As you may be aware, we’re hard at work on the next major iteration of our product line. We’d love to hear feedback from people who are making extensive use of the Teamwork module.
