Kayako will be attending CeBit this year in Hannover, Germany. CeBit is the world’s largest IT and business technology trade fair. Kayako will be in attendance for the full event; 2nd March 2010 to the 6th March inclusive.

We plan on demonstrating SupportSuite to newcomers and hopefully meeting many of our existing customers. Come and tell us how you use Kayako software and how you would like your support desk platform to better work for you.
We will also be demonstrating components of Version 4 – the next generation of customer support and relationship management software.
If you are planning on attending, you can find us in Hall 6 (we have a much bigger booth this year).

- Tickets will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis.
- You may request up to two additional tickets (three including your own).
- If you are requesting more than one ticket, you will need to provide the name and contact number of each additional attendee.

Welcome to the sixth in a series of Version 4 development updates and previews.
In preview #5 we looked at staff management, group management, the new permissions interface and an interface screencast.
In this preview we’ll take a look at two completely new innovations we are introducing in V4: screen capture sharing and live file transfers during a live chat session.
File transfers in a live chat session
Operators can now send files to chatters in a live chat session. The file transfer is proxied by the server on which your support desk is hosted. The file is securely uploaded to the server from your computer, and then a link to the file is sent to the end user. This makes for a completely seamless user experience.

Welcome to the fourth in a series of Version 4 development updates and previews.
Following up on preview #3 (where we looked at the operator’s desktop application), this preview takes a look at the new end-user live chat interface, revised visitor engagement options and a new HTTP streaming option.
New visitor engagement options

Engagement options in the operator's desktop application
In V3, there were two proactive visitor engagement options – “Forced” and “Invitation”.
The “Forced” option popped up a new chat window and immediately connected the visitor to the operator.
The “Invitation” option opened an in-line invitation window inviting the user to a chat, with “Chat Now” and “Close” buttons.
We have replaced these with two new engagement options:
- Engage (on-page invitation)
- In-line (on-page chat window)
Both of these new engagement options have been engineered to be popup blocker friendly. Both are demonstrated below. Read More »
Our recent support desk giveaway (in which we gave away Kayako software licenses and a number of gadgets via Twitter) ended with a grand finale: the final prize being a shiny new Macbook Air and a $1000.00 donation to the winner’s nominated charity.
The winner, Nerida Gill, chose to donate the money to Bosom Buddies of Australia – a breast cancer support charity providing support to women living with breast cancer, and their families. We could not have been more pleased that Nerida of Admin Bandit (a vendor of volunteer treasurer software) scooped the ultimate prize.
Nerida Gill said:
“A number of friends and family have suffered from breast cancer, so this cause is close to my heart, Bosom Buddies provides vital aftercare for women who have undergone painful treatment for a disease that is frightening and often makes them question who they are as women. Everyone at Bosom Buddies gives their time and energy simply because they care, This kind of selfless giving is the backbone of our communities.”
Marilyn Brookes, chair of the Bosom Buddie breast awareness education subcommittee, was delighted to receive the donation:
“Nerida’s donation is like a rainbow delivering a pot of gold. We raise all our own funds, which is time-consuming and hard work.”
As a business, we are acutely aware of our social responsibility. We’re ecstatic that our Twitter giveaway was able to spread some joy, and provide help to those who really need it.
Thank you once again to everyone who participated in the event. We look forward to doing something similar in the near future.
This post is probably an apt place to remind everyone that Kayako software is now available to charitable organizations and open-source projects completely free of charge. Visit free help desk software for more information.

Welcome to another (and first of many more frequent) Version 4 development updates and previews.
Firstly, we would like to apologise for the delay posting this particularly anticipated update. We did say we would be posting this preview alongside the giveaway – we have been working flat out on the recently released 3.60.03 stable, and of course; Version 4.

Version 4 roadmap
We are now in a position where we are able to discuss timelines. Here is a look at an abstraction of the current Version 4 roadmap we are working towards:
- Ongoing previews here on the blog, including video presentations and development demonstrations
- Q3 2009: API and code previews to selected partners and developers
- Q3/4 2009: Final licensing, pricing and upgrade (for existing customers) details to be announced
- Q4 2009: BETA version available to all customers
- Q1 2010: 4.0.0 stable is released to the public – current customers (including hosted) will be able to upgrade at the time of launch
The latest and revised roadmap can be found here.
Although the time frames are tentative (they could be brought forward or pushed back), we are confident that given the current state and pace of development, they are stable and reliable. There are many other stages in our roadmap which have not been detailed here; we will only be posting roadmap details when we feel they are stable.
